The best AI visibility tools in 2026: an honest buyer’s guide

The leading AI visibility tools in 2026 are Profound for large enterprises, Peec AI and Scrunch for mid-market teams, and Otterly.AI, LLMrefs and Rankscale for smaller budgets, with Semrush, Ahrefs and Similarweb adding AI tracking to SEO suites. They differ most in engines covered, what a plan counts, and whether they show uncertainty or test fixes.

Disclosure. Citino, which publishes this guide, makes an AI visibility tool. We list it last, in its own section, with its limits. Every fact about other products comes from the vendor’s own pricing, product or documentation pages, checked on 19 October 2026. Prices change often; check before you buy.

How we compared them

Every tool here tracks whether AI assistants name your brand. They differ on six things that decide whether a tool fits:

  1. Engines. Which assistants it checks, and which cost extra.
  2. What a plan counts. Prompts, credits or answers, and how many brands and seats.
  3. How answers are collected. Through the consumer apps, through APIs, or both, and how often.
  4. Uncertainty. Whether numbers come with a margin of error, since AI answers vary from run to run.
  5. Help with fixes. Recommendations, content tools or agents.
  6. Proof. Whether it can tell you that a specific change worked.

The SEO suites are compared further down.

Profound

Profound is the best-funded company in the category. It announced a $180 million Series D at a $1.8 billion valuation in September 2026, and names customers such as Target, Walmart and Figma. It is built for large brands and agencies, with agents (“AI Marketer”) that propose and produce content, and Prompt Volumes, which estimates what people ask AI assistants from licensed consumer panel data.

  • Engines: up to 9 on Enterprise, including ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Copilot, Claude, DeepSeek and AI Overviews; ChatGPT Shopping on Enterprise.
  • Pricing: a free 7-day trial with 50 preset prompts on 3 engines; Enterprise is custom. An agency plan exists; its price is not on the pricing page.
  • Method: Profound says it runs prompts daily through each engine’s front-end interface, not APIs.
  • Watch for: no public self-serve price, and no published margin of error. See Profound alternatives.

Peec AI

Peec AI, based in Berlin, says it serves more than 3,500 brands and agencies. It covers the core metrics (visibility, position, sentiment, share of voice, sources) with clean reporting, plus agent analytics from server logs, a Looker Studio connector and an API on Enterprise.

  • Engines: each plan includes 3 models you choose from ChatGPT, AI Mode, AI Overviews, Copilot, Gemini and Naver AI; Perplexity and others are add-ons; Enterprise tracks up to 13.
  • Pricing: Starter $95/mo (50 prompts, 1 project), Pro $245/mo (150 prompts, 2 projects), Advanced $495/mo (350 prompts, 5 projects). Unlimited users on every plan.
  • Method: Peec says it uses “UI scraping technology”, daily, as a logged-out user.
  • Proof: its Impact view marks when an action went in progress or done, so you can compare before and after on the chart.
  • Watch for: three models per plan means extra engines add cost; no margin of error is shown. See Peec AI alternatives.

Scrunch

Scrunch, founded in 2023, was acquired by Sitecore in June 2026. Beyond monitoring, it offers an Agent Experience Platform that serves AI-optimised versions of your pages to AI bots.

  • Engines: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, AI Overviews and Meta on every plan.
  • Pricing: Starter $300/mo ($250 annual; 350 custom prompts, 3 users), Growth $500/mo ($417 annual; 700 prompts, 5 users). 7-day trial, no card.
  • Method: a mix of browser automation and official APIs; new prompts run daily for 14 days, then every 72 hours by default.
  • Watch for: per-seat limits on lower plans, and checks every three days after the first two weeks.

AthenaHQ

AthenaHQ, a Y Combinator company, pairs tracking with optimisation tools: a content optimisation agent, on-page and off-page actions, and GA4, Search Console, Shopify and Webflow integrations.

  • Engines: 5 on the free plan; 11 on Starter, including Claude, Grok, DeepSeek and Meta AI.
  • Pricing: a free Essential plan (300 credits); Starter $295/mo with 3,600 credits, where one credit is one AI response. Unlimited prompts and competitors within your credits.
  • Watch for: no published statement of how answers are collected.

Otterly.AI

Otterly.AI, from Austria, is the lowest-cost entry point here and covers a wide feature set for the price: share of voice, citations, prompt research, GEO audits, a Looker Studio connector, and an API and MCP from Standard.

  • Engines: ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot on every plan; Gemini, AI Mode and Claude are paid add-ons.
  • Pricing: Lite $29/mo (15 prompts), Standard $189/mo (100 prompts), Premium $489/mo (400 prompts). Unlimited brands and seats.
  • Method: prompts are sent through the engines’ public web interfaces, daily.
  • Watch for: add-on engines raise the real price; Claude costs $29 to $439 a month extra depending on plan.

Goodie

Goodie, founded in 2024 in New York, leans into doing the work: optimisation agents for content, technical fixes, llms.txt and outreach, a content studio, AI crawler analytics, and revenue attribution on Enterprise.

  • Engines: 5 on Core (ChatGPT, AI Overviews, Perplexity, AI Mode, Copilot); more on Pro and Enterprise, including Gemini and Claude.
  • Pricing: Core $295/mo (110 prompts, 1 brand), Pro $999/mo, Enterprise custom.
  • Watch for: Gemini and Claude are not on the entry plan.

Evertune

Evertune is aimed at large advertisers and agencies, and is the only vendor we checked that publishes margins of error for its sampling: it states that one ask carries about ±44 points of error, 25 asks about ±20 and 100 asks about ±10, and its methodology samples each prompt 100 times. It combines API access with the live consumer apps, and runs a large panel of real conversations to choose prompts.

  • Pricing: Starter $60/mo billed annually (5,000 prompt credits, up to 5 models); Pro $800/mo billed annually (11 models).
  • Watch for: pricing is annual; it is built more for brand and ad teams than for SEO workflows.

ZipTie, Rankscale and LLMrefs

Three flexible, lower-cost options:

  • ZipTie (now at ziptie.ai) prices by prompt slots and engines in a configurator, from $42.75/mo, with 7 engines on paid plans, an Action Center that ranks gaps, white-label reports and unbilled seats and projects. It collects answers from the live consumer products.
  • Rankscale, from Vienna, sells credits rather than prompts (Pro $99/mo for 1,200 credits; a typical query costs 0.25), claims 17+ engines, and offers white-label from its Growth plan.
  • LLMrefs, based in London, lists a single $79/mo plan with 500 prompts, unlimited projects and seats and up to 10 engines with no extra fees, updated at least weekly. Its pricing page and FAQ disagree on the prompt allowance, so confirm before buying.

AI visibility inside SEO suites

If your team already lives in an SEO suite, its AI add-on may be enough to start.

SuiteAI visibility productPrice for the AI capabilityEngines
SemrushAI Visibility Toolkit$99/mo per domain (25 prompts); bundles from $199/moChatGPT, Google AI, Gemini, Perplexity
AhrefsBrand RadarAI Visibility Index $199/mo; custom prompts from $50/moAI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, Claude

SimilarwebAI Search Intelligence$129/mo ($99 annual), 150 promptsChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, AI Mode

Their strength is prompt databases: Semrush and Ahrefs estimate what people ask across hundreds of millions of prompts, which is useful for research. Their weakness, for now, is depth: fewer tracked prompts per dollar and less help turning gaps into fixes than the dedicated tools.

Which should you choose?

  • Large enterprise, budget for a platform and agents: Profound.
  • Mid-market team that wants clean daily tracking: Peec AI or Scrunch.
  • Small team testing the waters: Otterly.AI, LLMrefs or ZipTie.
  • Many engines, including Grok and DeepSeek: Rankscale or AthenaHQ.
  • Already on Semrush or Ahrefs: start with their add-on.
  • You need to prove changes worked: look closely at how each tool handles before-and-after, and at Citino below.

Where Citino fits

Citino is ours, so weigh this accordingly.

Citino includes three engines on every plan, ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Perplexity, measured daily, with Gemini, Google AI Mode and Claude as add-ons and Grok on Enterprise. Two things set it apart from the tools above. Every number carries a 95% margin of error bootstrapped over prompts, so a change inside its margin is shown as noise. And every fix gets a verdict: Citino waits until an engine has read the changed page, subtracts the median change of your competitors over the same days, and reports Confirmed, Negative or Inconclusive.

Pricing is by prompts only, with unlimited brands and seats: from $39/mo for 20 prompts to $569/mo for 500, with fixes and verdicts on every step and done-with-you help from 150 prompts. Gemini and Google AI Mode are add-ons at $0.60 per prompt a month, and Claude at $0.90. Agency pools start at $349/mo for 250 prompts across unlimited clients.

Its limits: Citino is newer than most tools here. It does not yet track Copilot, DeepSeek or Meta AI, has no prompt-volume database, and no shopping or ads tracking. If you need those, the tools above cover them today.

Questions people ask

What is the best AI visibility tool?

It depends on your size and needs. Profound is built for large enterprises with custom pricing. Peec AI and Scrunch suit mid-market teams from about $95 and $300 a month. Otterly.AI, LLMrefs and Rankscale start under $100 a month. If you already pay for Semrush or Ahrefs, their AI add-ons are a cheap first step.

How much do AI visibility tools cost?

On 19 October 2026, entry options ranged from free (AthenaHQ’s Essential plan and Profound’s 7-day trial) and $29 a month (Otterly.AI Lite, 15 prompts) up to $300 a month (Scrunch Starter, 350 prompts), with enterprise plans priced on request. Compare plans by answers per month, not prompts: prompts × engines × runs per month.

Do AI visibility tools use official APIs?

Mostly not. Peec AI, Profound, Otterly.AI, ZipTie and SE Ranking say they collect answers through the engines’ consumer interfaces, as a user would see them. Scrunch and Evertune say they combine browser automation with APIs; Conductor says it is API-first. Ask every vendor how answers are collected.

Can these tools tell me if a change worked?

Few claim to. Peec AI marks when an action was done on its charts so you can see before and after; Scrunch publishes guidance on recording a baseline. None of the vendors we checked publishes a statistical test of a single fix against competitors, which is what Citino’s verdicts do.
